Dr. Seo is a structural biologist and biochemist at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where he serves as Director of the Structural Biology Core—the primary protein production and structural determination platform within the Chemical Biology Program.

Hyuk-Soo earned his undergraduate degree from Seoul National University and completed his Ph.D. in biological chemistry at the University of Pennsylvania, followed by postdoctoral research with Nobel laureate Günter Blobel at The Rockefeller University. He joined Dana-Farber in 2014.

Specialized in tackling challenging macromolecular targets, Dr. Seo’s work spans the complete structural pipeline—from sequence design and reagent validation to high-resolution structure determination. His research has resulted in extensive contributions to the Protein Data Bank and peer-reviewed literature. Through the Core, he actively collaborates with research groups across Dana-Farber, the Longwood Medical Area, and the broader scientific community to enable structure-guided drug discovery and elucidate complex biochemical mechanisms.
